| no partners | | I was up the canyon today. Left the truck at home so I parked on FR61. It's s nice hike. Steel in places. With a decent 4WD you could make it about .6 miles. It is tough until then. After that there are some trees on the trail. You'd need a chainsaw and winch to go further by vehicle.
After the road ends there is a foot trail that gradually fades. I didn't get to the spring but went up the canyon side. Great views. There is an unofficial trail up there around 6800 feet. It's leave. The east branch seems to head for the Crest trail. It's in better shape than the main trail. I might do a loop with that next time. There is lots of shade. |

| no partners | | I took a short afternoon trip out to the backside of the Huachuca Mts. intending to hike up to the end of the 4x4 track (FR 4782) portion of the trail and back down. This would allow myself time to document the hike a bit and do a proper GPS routing of the trail as it is defined on the 'Trail Map of the Huachuca Mountains'. Short and quite steep in places - Copper Canyon provides a canopy to escape the surrounding exposure - as well as a near constant water source to draw from - 'Oak Spring' being one of the lowest elevation springs in the area. Spent the rest of my limited time photography around the region south of the hike's Trailhead and cruising down to the Border Fence via FR 4781 Elevation correction has been applied to the AEG calculation - GPS Route Available |

| no partners | | To investigate Spring Flow & create a H2O Report for OAK SPRING. As part of a 4x4 outing on the backside (southwest-facing) of the Huachuca Mountains with my wife Tresa. Decided to do a bit of R&D in the Copper Canyon area...will provide full write-up description with media & GPS next time - should be beyond 20 triplogs and enabled to write decriptions on the site by then. This was a prelude to finding an optimal place for the Full Moonrise over the San Jose Mountains in Sonora Mexico. GPS Route to Oak Spring Available |
