I altered the last little part to avoid the road walk back to car. Devil’s Lake is a State Park and requires a fee but because the National Trail goes through ,my National Park pass could be used. It was over a two hour drive to get here albeit pretty driving past the GREEN farms and such. It started raining a little before I got there and rained for the duration of the hike. The trail was in great shape with a tree canopy on the majority of the hike. There was some paved portions by the lake and you have to pay attention to stay on trail in a couple places by the campground. Not sure of park hours and with the weather only saw 3 people on trail. The campground did have some wet campers!! Although I got soaked to the bone, I enjoyed my hike thoroughly! Hiking with the tree canopy was a treat.,It also had a couple nice climbs through the rocks on the east and west bluffs of the lake that were cool. Glad I picked this one for my first hike in Wisconsin!! Very green out here and I think the rain may have kept the mosquitoes at bay! |
