Overlook Canyon
Thousand Mile Canyon Trail #9216

The 6am meetup was easy since I never made it to sleep last night (bed by 8pm... with book... read 'till 2am! Wide awake... just stayed up) So, up on the mountain and on the trail little after 7am. Surprised to learn that the southern end of the trail only went 3 miles past West Side Road (?)...

...then hiked the 4 mile section we failed to cover last time out, and repeated down the very nice upper drainage to Sacramento Lake; that high altitude canyon deserves more attention next summer.

...checked out Sacramento Falls trail. What can be said about a trail that is .2 miles long? Still, it probably gets more attention and hikers than 99% of the other area trails.

...started to do a loop around Thousand Mile Canyon and Overlook Canyon, then realized it is hunting season and off trail end of day might not be smart in muted color clothing...

Finally figured out what is likely wrong with my training program; I'll look to some new plans to correct the problems.

14 degrees to kick the morning off, but clear day and calm winds yielded pleasant temps for most of the hike.

Good to be on the mountain!
