Back in the spring I hiked Cross Canyon at the base of Apache Leap. After that hike I started looking for other hikes in the area. Kane Spring is one I had been eyeballing for awhile. I combined it with a trip to the Belmont Mine, a stop at Historic Pinal Cemetery and some Mexican food from Los Hermanos to make it a full day in Superior.
Kane Spring was the easy warm-up hike; up a wash to a dry waterfall. The spring is being diverted through a pipe that you follow most of the way. The fire that went through here in 2012 really did a number on the landscape. Still, it's slightly riparian and very peaceful. |
