Towers Mountain Trail #131 is not in great shape. Parking lot can hold up 4 to 6 cars depending how everyone parks then walk across road up hill towards a yellow sign look for a path or old road(don't go up to the little trail sign-- trail is hard to pick up at that spot) This section is overgrown with weeds and high grass but if you pay attention you can pick up the trail. Next 1/3 section you will pass a fence post on right side of trail then within 100 ft. trail stops-no sign of a old road or trail.. This section is over grown with catclaw or some kind of bush with lots of thorns--you cannot walk throw this section try to find a clear way up mountain till you pick up old road or trail again. Trail switch backs up side of mountain then meets fence again trail turns left North then goes around mountain and you are getting up into pine trees (one section of this trail was hard to follow just head northeast--look for Towers on top of mountain) We then went out and walked down F.R 52C to Gladiator Mine Road #92 walked up road to towers then back down to FR.52C or Towers Mountain Road walked down to where Towers Mountain Road goes straight and 52C turns right and goes down to Senator Highway.
This section of 52C is not maintained and you will need a good high clearance vehicle or a Jeep or 4 wheel drive vehicle to make it up this road from Senator Highway for about 1 1/2 miles. Senator Highway we turned right and walked 1.06 miles back to truck. I would suggest anyone wanting to do this hike park at 52C and Senator Highway and walk up 52C to Towers Mountain-7680ft. Distance 3 miles then walk down Towers Mountain Trail-1.06 miles) views are great and trail should be easier to follow coming down then take Senator Highway back to your vehicle. Towers Mountain Road also can be picked up at Crown King goes up around south side of Towers Mountain(Residential area you can see houses from Senator Highway) then meets 52C about 1 1/2 miles from top. Hike was 8 miles.

Bruce and I were out on our Senator Highway excursion that included a drive from Prescott to Crown King on the Historic Dirt Road. Along the way we would stop at several sights and points of interest. We had a handful of enjoyable hikes as well. Prior to Towers Mountain we did Horse Mountain and then headed over to Towers. Bruce decided to take the opportunity to grab some shade and take a break while I did this one.

This trail has had fire damage and is overgrown and hard if not impossible to follow in the middle. The upper end and the lower end isn't too bad. Just overgrown. I had high hopes for this one and it was enjoyable overall. The down side is that I was trying really hard to get a clean track going in either direction for HAZ. It simply wasn't possible. The trail would just vanish at times. With that being said it isn't hard to figure out how to get to the top and back down.
