It's always a great time on Lime Ridge. I'm guesstimating on the mileage and AEG because my booty somehow managed to turn off my GPS for about 20 minutes when I was coming down Blue Oak Trail. The burned area is coming back slowly but surely.

Just a little exercise hike. I need to hit Lime Ridge more often. Shell Ridge is nice and everything, but Lime Ridge just seems to pack a little more punch.

Lime Ridge always hits the spot. It's easy to get to, has free parking, and can be made as challenging as one wants. It's also a surprising slice of of the wild. I saw a couple of red-tailed hawks, a bunch of wild turkeys and even a few California quail.

Nice hike with my little bruddah. That steep hill is a really nice workout. Need to do this one more often, especially with the longer days.

I was looking for a cheap workout before I had to get ready for my camping trip next weekend. It was cloudy and windy the entire time, and fellow travelers were few and far between. The steep uphill on the northern leg is always tough, but I appreciate the cardio.

Wonderful hiking weather today, but pretty hazy. I saw a couple of ravens today which made me think of this afternoon's football game. There were also a lot of smaller birds foraging at ground level, and they produced quite a lot of music.

The area is exceptionally dry. Many areas of these trails are either crumbling or just dust.

Did this clockwise, which is tougher. Saw my first Pacific rattlesnake, and it was not happy.

Clockwise. Saw a lot of raptors. A couple of white-tailed kites showed off their hover-hunting technique. Saw multiple pairs of red-tailed hawks, and it looked like they were mating, fighting or both. Lots of turkey vultures as usual. Even saw more LGBs than usual.

Counterclockwise. Quick little loop. Took Ohlone the few hundred yards to Paraiso, then up to the ridgeline. North along the Lime Ridge Trail on top of the ridgeline is up and down for about 3/4 mile until meeting the Manzanita Trail. Manzanita is steep going down, then left at Ohlone. Went right off of Ohlone and ended up on an access road that led to the main parking lot of the golf course. This definitely seemed easier than clockwise because going up Manzanita is pretty rough.
