With our Mighty Five trip complete, we took an extra day in Moab to do Moaby things. In the morning we secured a couple mountain bikes and headed out to the Brands Trail, then in the afternoon we did Fins N Things. I originally wanted to do Elephant Hill in the Needles district, but we decided it was too far, would have taken all day and we wouldn't have had time for the bikes. Even though I still want to do Elephant Hill sometime in the future, I think Fins and Things was a good choice us.

Fins N Things is described as pure Moab. This trail has a mix of Slick rock and sand. The highlight of this trail is the steep ups and downs. There are sections where you drive across "fins" and can be very scenic. Its located in the Samd Flats recreation area.

From our camp along the Colorado River My brother Ken, my nephew Josh and my son Brandon and I departed for a run on the famous Moab 4X4 trail called "Fins & Things". Located within the pay use area of Sand Flats just east of downtown Moab.

On this trail I left my Suburban back at camp and the four of us made the run in my brothers highly modified Jeep Rubicon. Through the majority of this run I either rode on top the roof rack or stood alongside the trail when it was not safe to be on the roof. From these vantage points I recorded the our traverse of the trail with my camera. From downtown Moab the route runs for about 25 miles with 13 miles being off pavement.
