Sorry, this journal is for another kinda old (Oct. 2015) hike outside of AZ. Went on this easy hike located about 30 miles north of Whistler, BC, to see Nairn waterfalls, in the Nairn Falls Provincial Park. The well-groomed and maintained trail along the Green River, which flows north, east is about 1 mile long. The trail and park are in a beautiful setting of diverse forest douglas fir, western redcedar, western hemlock and paper birch. Mountains to the east have small glaciers. The park is also home to the Rubber Boa snake.

I completed this short hike with a friend a few months back and just decided to post -- it was a short hike but beautiful scenery. At the end of the trail was the "Whistler Train Wreck", several trains cars that derailed circa 1956. I wondered why there weren't any downed trees around the cars and just discovered that the derailed cars were dragged away from the tracks to their "final resting place" -- therefore no downed trees nearby. The river that runs along the track is the Cheakamus River. The wreck is actually in Function Junction, a town named after the wreck occurred, that is just south of Whistler BC. The graffiti artwork was a real treat. The area near the wreck was obviously used by trick bike riders.

Overcast day but still enjoyed this short walk along a fast moving river to the roaring falls. The rocky area at the falls viewpoint can be slippy if wet so take care.
