Our last hike of our Nevada State Park weekend. We were extremely surprised and pleased by this trail. It started out not too exciting, but once we dropped into Ash Canyon - :y: We were in a narrow volcanic slot canyon, which was tons of fun. Scrambling around in the canyon was a delight, and there were plants unusual for the area around every bend. We both had huge grins on our faces, as if we had won an unexpected jackpot.

Be sure to pick up a pamphlet for this trail at the regional SP visitor's center in Cathedral Gorge on your way. There are numbered posts along the trail, which correspond to information about plants and other tidbits. There were no pamphlets at the trail head, and no box that might hold them.
