| no partners | | Went on a nice bike ride with my niece. I rode my sister-in-law's pink bike, and Marin rode my brother's bike because of seat adjustment issues. He needs to buy better bikes!
We managed to get lost in the Town Forest (Clifford Grant Mgmt Area). Apparently they are working on building some better trails there this fall, which will be nice.
Once in Borderland, the trails were fantastic. It was a perfect Friday, temps in the mid 60s, colored leaves everywhere.
I had forgotten how different foliage is back east. There are trees that are stripped bare already, and some that are still fully green. All right next to each other. But then there are those that are also at their peak! The wide range does allow for the "season" to last a lot longer than the small window we have here in AZ for the few species that change.
I think I avoided deer ticks, but I guess it will be a few weeks before I know for sure. They're so tiny it is very easy for you to not notice them. For all the snakes and critters you look out for in the desert, the thought of getting Lyme Disease and not ever really knowing how it happened is something to keep in mind.
Did a few other hikes that I added to this photoset, but weren't part of this bike ride. Nice weekend back east! |
