Another fun hike to the top for SOTA. Great group of guys working the radios. Nice views from here but there sure is some dense vegetation.

This is an 8 point SOTA peak new to HAZ and only been activated once before by my friend Pete WA7JTM who has been up 118 peaks and counting in AZ in the last 14 months. He is the first SOTA Goat in Arizona and only the 8th in the USA. What that means he has accumulated a total of 1000 activator points which is quite an achievement since the highest point value a peak can have is 10 points and you can only activate a peak once per year to get the points.

It was windy on the peak like Pinyon yesterday however band conditions were much better. I also made a contact with another SOTA enthusiast on a peak in Hawaii on 12m KH7AL he was on Makapu'u Head on Ohau. That was my first contact with Hawaii from Mountain Peak to Mountain Peak a very cool thing for me. I also worked another SOTA member Dave N5XL here in AZ on a peak in the Clint Wells area called Buck Mountain. I made a total of 30 contacts and it was also my first trip into the Mazatzals. I like the area and I think I will be back more.

Lots of peaks in here that need activating :)
