I've been wanting to hike this mountain for quite a while now, ever since my first visit to SF back in 2010. Each time I returned to the bay area, there was some reason or another I couldn't get up there. Finally I was able to reach the top! Well, the true summit is fenced off with a radio tower on it, but I came close enough. I started from the main parking area ($6), and followed the recommended path underneath Guadalupe Canyon Parkway to reach the trailhead and continued going counter-clockwise on the Summit Loop Trail to the peak. I hiked up the steep section and ran back down the more gradual part of the trail. I would recommend doing the opposite, as the view would be better on the return trip coming down the mountain.
