Finally! It may not seem like a lot, (and honestly the hike/mountain wasn’t anything special), but I had been looking at this hike and finishing the Munds area for a long time. After completely missing the mark a week ago, when I inadvertently hiked Apache Maid Mountain  . I identified where Jones Mountain was and I was on my way. Parked off of FS 230 ( near Bill Back Park) and at first hiked in along a forest service (230E) before going cross country and up the mountain. Pretty easy hike. Gradual elevation gain. Biggest challenge were pockets of thorny bushes that seem layer the slopes; (open pines and then a layer 20 feet wide of the thorny bushes….repeat). These bushes seem to circle the entire mountain. They were negotiable. You just had to pick your path more carefully. Views from the top were nonexistent. Walked along the top. Hit the two high points. No wildlife :( , but no other hikers :) . A nice, but very chilly commune with nature.

SOTA Activation 10 points had a thunderstorm roll in while I was on top almost 1 inch of pea size hail fell. I had to disconnect from my antenna and take shelter under a tarp between rocks down the peak it made for a short activation with some excitement.
