| no partners | | Temps around 70 degrees near the summit and low to mid 70s at the base all day, light rain appeared to be moving in as we left. Upper 50s overnight at our base camp in Pinetop. The area is very green and it appears the summer rains have started early. We rode the tram to the top and hiked backed down. Lots of butterflies. Anther hiker said they saw a fawn nearby but we were unable to spot it. I would guess the trail mileage was about 2.5 miles from summit to base but we didn't always stay on the main trail so hard to say for sure. Pleasant day far away from Phurnace. |

| no partners | | Nice day on top of Sunrise Peak. Stopped in at the café on top of the peak for some Navajo Taco's. Temp at the top was 60 degrees, cloudy and breezy around 1:00 pm which was a nice change from Phx heat. I hiked around a little near the top of the peak and was pleased to see most of the trails on the mtn open for public access, in the years past they only had one or two specific routes open. Uphill hiking was difficult at this high elevation found it difficult to breath and had to move slower uphill. Overall a great experience. |

| no partners | | Excellent day spent on Sunrise Peak exploring the area and some side trails. The weather was nice. A little chilly on top from the wind and a little hot below the summit in the sun. Lots of animal droppings noted mostly Elk. Grass is green in some places but starting to turn in more exposed areas. Summer rains hopefully come sooner than later. |
