Good way to start my vacation to Lassen Volcanic National Park. However, it was warm. I pounded down my entire 3-liter reservoir and gulped a quart when I got done. I liked the mix of vegetation types along with the noteworthy attractions. Crumbaugh Lake was a great spot for a late lunch, Cold Boiling Lake was interesting if a bit underwhelming, and Mill Creek Falls was cool. Only saw about a dozen people the entire time, and most were between the visitors center and the falls.

Mule ears were all over the place in spots, particularly Conard Meadow, but they hadn't sent their flowers up. This park should be on every Northern Californian outdoorsperson's short list.

I saw a lot of wildflowers, but I also haven't even begun to try to figure out how to identify different species here in California.
