I call this "Python Eating an Elephant" Mountain although the official designation from the benchmark marker on top is Verde No 02.

I am so glad that I saw this trail guide entry. I have often desired to climb this peak but assumed it was not accessible. This is an off trail hike that requires some 3rd class scrambling by the off-trail path that I took. My route was similar to the prior route but I chose the final ascent by the SE Ridge Scramble. The path was reasonably solid with some loose rocks and very little cholla cactus. The views at the top are wonderful.

I see this peak all the time and got the itch to go up it today the last 275 feet are difficult but I did manage to get on top and put it on the air quick then got back down before the daylight was gone. I did not want to come down in the dark it was challenging enough in the daylight.
