When we were looking through our book the night before to find trails, we realized we were going to end up doing several short trails instead of 1 or 2 longer ones. We had a few picked out, but my girlfriend was concerned about a few of them because several of them were listed as guaranteed bear sightings. I wanted to see some bears but she wasn't all that thrilled about it. The description for big trees loop did not include anything about bears so she picked this one.
There was a look out with a small trail near the parking lot that we combined making this a bit longer. The scenery and the trees are awesome on this loop. The meadow is in the middle and the trail loops around in and is surrounded by giant sequoias.
Best part of the hike is we found 4 bears! haha, 1 on the ouside of the loop, 2 in the meadow, and then one in the parking lot when we returned. It was great.
