I spent some time the previous day putting together a big loop ride and looking over the quad. Got a lazy start Monday morning but began riding from Pumkpin Center about 945am. FR 609 was smooth cruising and we ran across quite a few deer along with a family of javelina. The temps were nice on top with cloud cover and wind chill making it cold at times. About 30 miles and 1.5 hours later we hit the Young HWY. Took it up to Cherry Creek RD and rode it south back the Young HWY. It is a beautiful section of road that offered cool temps in the riparian drainages that come off the mountain. By the time we took the Young Rd to A-Cross Rd it started getting pretty warm. We cruised across A-Cross and end up back in Pumpkin Center at 445pm. The trip was a grand total of 118 miles which ate up all 3.5 gallons the of fuel in the main tank. Fortunately there was an untapped .7 gal reserve. Love my Honda Foreman. Theres plenty of Forest Road up there I have yet to discover. |
