This park is on the Colorado River in California, just upriver from Yuma, and is not to be confused with the one with similar name near Casa Grande, AZ. It's a very popular stop for kayakers, canoeists, and other boaters on the river.
You can also drive on a dirt road to the park, but I have never done that. I've been there several times but always by boat. I'm told the road is usually but not always passable by an ordinary sedan.
I'd like to write the description for this hike, but I suppose I need to go there by car sometime! It's a nice place to camp. There are even solar showers. Plus, there are outlier campsites on the river reachable if you have a high clearance vehicle (or a kayak). I've camped at a couple of those, too: Carrizo Wash and 4-S camps. |
