This was a nice evening hike, with clouds, blue jays, and the sweet smell of a campfire wafting in the bottom of Chase Creek. Started at Granville Campground, took the connector trail 8A to the Spur Cross trailhead on highway 191, then followed the old alignment of the Spur Cross Trail to the highway. A pretty little loop.

Went to Granville campground after working in Morenci to hit the Pinal Trail for a quick hike, but there was no place to park due to a FS project in progress. So I drove up the road to check out the Spur Cross Trail #8. This trail did not disappoint. Although I only made it to Wood Canyon, just a mile west of the Coronado Trail, this hike had a wild, remote feel to it. I saw what I could only guess was once an agave roasting pit along the way. Bring plenty of water and a topo map for this one. Route Finding: 3
