Since the weather in the San Juans wasn't cooperating at the start of my trip, I decided to try my luck at the Black Canyon of the Gunnison. Storms loomed in the distance, but the canyon was clear. I scored the last available permit for the Gunnison Route and made a very steep descent into the canyon. And by steep I mean the downhill seemed harder than the uphill. It was a fun adventure and I highly recommend it!

Permits were available the evening before (4:30 to 6:00) at the visitors center, or walk up day of.
