Drove up Mount Greylock, paid the out of state parking fee $10 and parked by the Thunderbolt shelter. Very nice views from here could see Mount Equinox that I hiked last year in Vermont. Before hiking went up the war memorial monument adding 90 feet to my aeg , found the windows to be cleaner than the NJ highpoint. Next over to the Bascom Lodge and located the AT and began today’s hike Grand Canyon style going down the mountain until I felt like I would have a good enough workout back up without making my wife wait too long. Had homemade Almond brittle ice cream on return to the lodge .Surprising hint of alpine environment here despite only 3489 in elevation, temps was 82° at the base and 72° at the summit. Drive through the Berkshires was pleasant.
