Flights in and out of Rhode Island heading west are tough to come by and I had half a day to kill before going to the airport. Plus noticed this trail was only a few minutes away from Connecticut and I could be at the nearest Starbucks to bring home another one of their collectable state mugs for my wife. Took the back roads up from Newport and it was a pleasantly hilly and woody drive. Toughest part of this hike is actually finding the unmarked trailhead. The directions I had said to look for pole sign #212 and I assumed a road marker. Learned that in Rhode Island each telephone pole is individually numbered and I had to search for the very small number tacked onto the pole. The sign on the roadway to designate the highpoint is actually about 100 yards down the hill from the highpoint.
