| no partners | | I spent the night in Colorado Springs after hiking up to Pikes Peak the previous day, and I decided to do a long drive and bag a couple of state high points: Panorama Point(NE) and Mount Sunflower(KS). These were state highpoints #9 and #10 for me. Neither "peak" involved a hike; instead you just drove your car right to each highpoint.
I began the trek by heading NE from Colorado Springs to Panorama Point, which is only about 1 mile into Nebraska from Colorado. This was the first time that I had ever been to Nebraska.
The highpoint is on a working bison ranch, and just before getting to the highpoint was a herd of about 50 buffalo right next to the unpaved road. Thankfully there was a fence between me and the buffalo. I took a few pictures at the summit and looked around for a bit, then I left and headed off to Kansas. |
