I left the dock at 8:30 and it was still 81 degrees and muggy. It had rained the night before so the trail was slick, muddy, and steep. The initial plan was going over to Margaret Hill and down to the road but that just wasn’t happening today. I took Caneel Trail to the Caneel Spur Trail and down to the Lind Trail. I hiked over to Honeymoon Beach and Back over to Salomon Beach before heading back to Cruz Bay. 3.1 miles in 1 hour and 50 minutes with 500 feet of AEG.

I did this solos hike on St. John in the US Virgin Islands. While a shorter hike it was more exposed to the sun and very warm. the views from the top of Caneel Hill were beautiful and they have a viewing platform so as to enhance the experience. The climb down the saddle and then up another 300 feet to the top of Margaret Hill kicked my butt. (Too much rum the night before- sigh.) 2.9 miles in 2 hours with 1,050 feet of AEG.
