Hiked from home to APRP. Took a detour to the cactus nursery then back to APRP to do a hike and back home.

March has been a disaster. Screwed up my knee with too many cold weather runs and hikes while wearing shorts in January & February. Finally felt comfortable enough to attempt to hit some dirt today.

Plus testing out some new shoes and hydration belt. Felt good to get out for a bit.

There are a lot of social trails leading in from the neighborhoods next to the park, finally did a loop without getting turned around on one and without having to stop for 30-45 seconds to get my bearings. Got hot fast and my mile splits got progressively slower to compensate.

Took the Maeveen Behan from the main trailhead over to the XC Trail, then took the Crooked Trail to the edge of the park, exited onto a wash with a berm on it. Ran along the berm for about a third of a mile to connect to the Oasis Trail, over to Hardy Wash and then finally connected back to the Behan Trail. This park has a lot of half mile long trails, so easy to knock out 5+ trails in one run or hike.

Not much in the way of wildflowers. But a first for me, caught a coyote napping under a tree. He looked very well fed, I'm guessing he's the reason for all the posts on NextDoor about missing cats in my neighborhood.

Super easy 5 minute walk with a 5 minute run spin around Arthur Pack Park. Still have tendonitis and needed something flat and easy. Discovered a new section of social trails once I got past the XC Trail and onto the Crooked Tree Trail. Literally went around in circles trying to figure out where to go, but wound up back where I started and took the XC Trail back to my car.

Still amazed that trails like this are empty on a nice, cool Saturday morning. Surrounded by subdivisions, I didn't even see any dog walkers or old ladies strolling around.

Not the most exciting trails, but gives you fantastic 360 degree views of the Catalinas, Tucson Mountains, Panther Peak and the Santa Ritas. Plus if into desert vegetation and huge saguaros a good spot to do a nature walk.

First "long" run in almost 11 weeks and first trail run completely on dirt trails since I got sick. Despite being almost pancake flat, these trails are a nice little oasis and just down the street from my subdivision.
