I went up to Harquahala two weekends in a row. The first trip was an offroading trip through the Hummingbird Springs Wilderness and Bighorn Mountain Wilderness. My friends and I camped that night and I accompanied them geocaching the next morning.
The second trip was a night run to do some night photography and play around with night vision.
This is still one of the best places in the area to watch the Sunset and Sunrise.

I took the pups up to Harquahala for a night of Truck camping. I was hoping for a great sunset and sunrise. I also planned to practice some night shot of the stars. The near full moon ruined those plans.
This place is becoming one of my favorite winter camping spots.

I invited a couple friends to the Harquahala Mountains to watch the Perseid Meteor shower. A few miles from the top, we passed Peter_Medal hiking along the road. After reaching the top, my friends quickly passed out. We work the graveyard shift, so they had been up for 24+hours. I hung out with Peter and company for a couple hours. We where a day or two early for the best viewing of the Meteor shower, so they where few and far between. I think most of us enjoyed the lightning show over Buckeye, more than the meteor shower. Shortly after falling asleep, the campsite got hit with storm that we had been watching. Im glad I was sleeping in my truck.

My dad was in town, and was looking to do some exploring. I came up with the Harquahala Mountains. We took the Harquahala Biway to the old Smithsonian building. We then took all available roads at the top. We came across a few old mines and buildings. We then explored some mines West of the mountians.
