Hiked with a new friend I met on Mount Royal last month. We met at the bus stop on Main Street in Frisco, then took a free ride to Breckinridge. Then another free gondola ride up to the trail head. In Vail they charge $40.00 for a ride.

We dropped over 1000’ over the nine miles on trail, a nice scenic hike , with snow on higher peaks, running water of Miners Creek, wildflowers and dark timber.
Next time I will do this in reverse.

Peaks Trail #45 is a great, but heavily used trail between Frisco and Breckenridge. It is obviously a favorite of mountain bikers. I can't imagine what it would be like on a weekend. The best feature of the southerly hike is that you can catch a cool, free gondola ride from where the trail ends down into Breckenridge. From there you can take a free bus (the Summit Stage) back to Frisco. I assume the reverse route works also. Lots of intersecting trails, including the Colorado Trail, but well signed.

Not a strenuous hike; mostly mild elevation change on the southern 2/3. Few vistas but nice just the same. However, I wouldn't do it again because of the number of hikers/bikers/runners/dogs. It felt like grand central.
