When I saw this written up online I thought it would be a "rails-to-trails" pathway. Turns out it's a dirt road that leads to some popular climbing spots, campgrounds, and homes. It does go right through four old railroad tunnels, and follows along the Arkansas River, which was pretty low. Since I got an early start it wasn't too busy. I didn't ride the whole thing.

I also rode down along the riverfront pathway in town. I find it's easy to talk to people who are walking dogs. You stop to admire the dog, ask about the dog. Great way to meet people. I met a guy who is a fulltime RVer who winters in Yuma at a place I was familiar with. Small world. I also met a woman who was a retired teacher and had lived in the area for 30 years.

I won't be getting a dog, although I hear it's a great way to meet people, haha!

Other stuff: I went to Buena Vista for a class (WFR recert) so I didn't spend much time recreating. (At the time I was living in Moab.) I learned a few things about that area. Didn't see a moose, although I spent a lot of time looking for one. I learned to say "Buena Vista" as the locals do, "Byoo na" Vista, "Byoonie" or "BV." I had never been to the area before. There was still snow on the peaks. I really was pretty overwhelmed by it all. I took a drive up to the St. Elmo ghost town, and went paddling on a lake. Slept in a yurt, and did a short hike near the class site, which was on a huge dude ranch. The area is quickly being Disneylandified, just like Moab is. I wish I had seen it 30 years ago.
