This loop still has quite a few sections that need to be completed and will utilize roads periodically, but there is still quite a bit of “connectivity”.
From the house I walked over to Fox Hill, which is the midway point along this section of the Boschert Greenway. From Fox Hill I followed the paved path northwest. Some quick switchbacks down the hill before crossing Boschertown Rd. and I then followed a very straight path to New Town Blvd. I had to follow New Town Blvd. west for about .3 miles before reaching an actual dirt path. The path was wide (about 5 ft) and was bracketed between warehouses on one side and a struggling stream on the other. Followed this for a little over .5 miles before reaching Montgomery “Gum” Kluesner Lake. Followed the trail around the lake. There was a side trail that was suppose to continue on to several other lakes, but the trail had been washed out. I might have been able to cross it without getting wet if I really wanted it. I didn’t. Returned the way I came.
Not much of a “Greenway.” There were buildings on at least one side of the path the entire way, with more coming. Wildlife. Squirrels. Everywhere. Probably saw over 50 ducks flying overhead in various numbers. Quite a bit of bird life. Robins predominant. A few cardinals. I had the path to myself. Great weather. Temps very similar to Phoenix. |
