Two fold purpose. Wanted to try Biscuit Flat Trail again for a trail description, but I thought while in the area I would do a short jog on the MUP A Trail. Both these trails take off from the East Wing TH so this was an easy accomplishment. First, MUP A. Got to the TH a little after 6am. Even though the signage is a little spotty in places, this is a very easy trail to do. For the most part, just follow the road. Annoyingly, there are no trail markers for this trail at the TH. Looking at the trail map (at the TH) is your only clue. The trail starts out as a 4ft wide, gravely path that heads west. About .8 miles into the hike you reach a trail juncture and see your first trail marker telling you what trail you are on (typical for Peoria). At this point the trail crosses the New River Trail and becomes more like a road. There will be some minor curves as it makes its way toward the dam. Around 1.2 it will turn west and become a very wide, straight road. It ends at Paloma Park next to a dog park. I touched the fence and headed back.

Not a very scenic or exciting trail, but a nice trail for jogging. Very wide, minimal rocks and almost no elevation. No wildlife and didn’t see anyone, (except humans and their owners at the dog park).

Second hike of the day. I wanted to revisit this system and check out another trail. Settled on MUP A. It’s not much of a trail, but it is a major link connecting the other trails and trailheads. Started from Paloma Park and hiked east on the trail/road. As expected: wide, flat and unimaginative. On the bright side, it is easy to hike and very direct getting you to your destination quickly. The road showed signs of dampness, so it must have rained here as well. Minimal wildlife….rabbits and quail. Encountered 5 others users on the trail.
