First full day in Oregon. On our drive to Seaside we stopped at a very short trail my wife had read about. Little challenging to get to. This road side trail is not well marked and the WiFi service is very spotty!! Luckily, while driving on SR 30, my wife saw Beaver Creek Rd. We made an assumption that the trail was down this road and it was. But you have to look for it because it’s not well marked. One of the things that helped identify the trail was the pullout was big enough for about 20 cars.

Got on the trail around 12. One of the things I quickly discovered about Oregon is the rain! The “pockets” of rain makes Phoenix’s isolated showers look like an amateur. We probably passed through 5 “pockets” on our drive and sure enough, as we were getting set to hike, it started to sprinkle again. Luckily, Oregon is also known for its trees. Simply stepping onto the trail (and under the trees) minimized most of the wetness. The trail hikes down to the falls, though it was as much lateral as it was vertical. I had expected it to be steeper. The abundance of growth is amazing!! Plant life everywhere. On everything thing! For a Phoenician it is a bit head-spinning. The trail is very easy to follow, though it is root infested and could be slick at times. The waterfall was nice, but not overwhelming. Fairly wide and maybe 20 feet high. The flow was steady, but not pulse pounding. A nice and easily accessible introduction into the Oregon wilderness.
