Belated post. This was our second full day in Branson. First day was time with family and getting the lay of the land and gave me a look at a trail options. The White River Valley Trail System was close to where we were staying and looked to something that wouldn’t take up too much time. Got to the TH around 5am, but decided to wait a bit for the coming sun to shine some light through the trees. First time on these trails so I wasn’t sure what to expect. Immediate impressions was the amount of tree coverage and how dim it was (initially). Also, the annoying amount of webs and mosquitoes. The mosquitoes weren’t bad as long as you kept moving, but there seemed to be no avoiding the spiderwebs. Very distracting. I blame the webs for missing the turn for the Blue Loop. I hadn’t planned on doing the Orange Loop, but I inadvertently turned onto Connector 4 and when I realized it I figured I might as well do the Orange Loop as well. Turned out to be a lucky call. I thought Connector 4 and the Orange Loop was the nicest part of the hike. Some nice mini waterfalls and probably the best “distant” meadow view of the day. After doing the Orange Loop returned on Connector 4 and continued on the Blue Loop. (Hard to believe I missed the turn for the Blue Loop; the trail was obvious and well signed). The Blue Loop had its own “meadows” and mini waterfalls, but the meadows had more restrictive views and the mosquitoes seemed to be more aggressive on the Blue Loop, which made it more exasperating to stop and enjoy the views.

Very nice hike overall. There were a few stream crossings and 1 spot where the trail and stream coincided. This was probably the nicest of the three loops that I hiked. It was good preparation for the mosquitoes and spiderwebs that I would encounter in the following days. Only saw 1 hiker while I was out there. Wildlife included a couple of deer and a turtle. Afterwards I hiked the short trail (.12 miles) down to view the Taneycomo River.
