| no partners | | "Car" camped the night before in the Subi with Jeff at Old Oak Flat, then the idea was to meet people around 10am for climbing in the Mine Area. We got there a little early, so cooked breakfast in the back of the Subi and waited while listening to music through the speakers of the car. We started to get a bit antsy when an hour went by and no one was showing up.. and then the music started to sound funny.. I ran up front to turn the key quick, but alas it was too late. Dead battery. We had a rope but no draws, and a phone but no service, and were miles away from the highway, where my phone could get service again. So, we waited.... And then decided that since no one was going to show up any time soon, it was probably safe to crack open the cheap cherry vodka we had. Unfortunately the only mixers were some OJ and some Monsters. Created a new drink, "Monsters Inc." Don't ever drink that, no matter how hard up! By the time our friends arrived three hours later, we didn't feel like climbing anymore, so just went into town for more vodka.. yeah, it was just one of those days. We sent a text to JB to bring cables (go figure, Kevin didn't have any, and I forgot mine at home after the last car cleaning), thinking he'd be there within an hour or two. Got back to the Mine and watched Kevin and Ayana climb.. eventually it started to get dark so we headed into town, only to find that JB hadn't left yet. Grabbed some cables at the Dollar General and some food at Dos Hermanos and then went back and jumped the Soobz. At that point it was getting pretty late, so we decided to stick around and set up camp back at Old Oak Flat. Finished the night off with some good people and some new arrivals. Not such a bad way to end such a weird day. =P |
