 Twice as Nice 5.8Sport
 Fort Stress 5.10a2 Pitches
 Steel Crazy 5.93 Pitches
mike invited me to climb at the summit crags on mt. lemmon
new territory, beautiful setting and a bluebird day
the approach is from the mt. lemmon trail, then a use trail to the top of the formation
we then dropped down to the base of the route - a little bit of bushwhacking, and long enough that we wanted hiking shoes and got to carry them on the climb :?
did the first two pitches of fort stress
squeezing the lemmon rates the first pitch as a 10-, mountain project a 9+
a big step across to start then sustained climbing on granite
i thought this was the hardest pitch of the day, and i didn't get this one cleanly
no warm up led to a flash pump and a short hang
the next pitch was nice and long up an exposed tower
vertical but good hands and feet
crazy rap off the tower to a ledge below
we then started to do tres frijoles, but changed plans
mike lowered me and he downclimbed so we could do the upper three pitches of steel crazy
5.9, great climbing on granite ledges and chickenheads
topped out and did the walk off back to our packs
early enough to do something else, so we had a shorter drop (in climbing shoes) to the base of twice as nice
easier climbing at 5.8, again just good fun
same top out and walk off
took the meadow trail back to the car
really enjoyed the climbing, and doing some bolted multi-pitch
mike is a great partner, knowledgeable and experienced
he led all climbs, i followed and cleaned
stellar day :)
