James and I drove up to the Overlook to meet Liz and some others. I'd decided not to climb, as I've been having this problem with my right foot (it's always something :(). Figured since I brought the bike, may as well use it. Explored some of the dirt roads in the area and found a couple really neat camping spots!

Brought along a very special beer for the occasion. Okay, maybe it's not SO special, but it did have a picture of a mountain bike on it, and seemed like a good idea at the time. I'm posting a picture of it, with my very expensive beer holder.

 8. Mint Jam 5.7
We met up with Adam, Bob, and LL at the Overlook. Our first time! James has never climbed trad/crack before, so it proved to be interesting.

Janelle initially met up with us just to say hi before dropping off her MiniBean. She shared some juice with us and then headed on out while we geared up to climb. Adam hopped onto Morning's Mourning (8+) and TR'ed on a neighbor's rope. He set up a top belay and took in rope while James climbed up the face. When it got to the crack portion of the climb, Adam yelled down, "Well, it's time to remember how to climb crack!" "But this is my first time!" James ended up finding an alternate route, but then took in a lesson on how to build anchors at the top.

Adam then set up a top rope above Isaiah (9+), but then put in directionals so that we could climb Mint Jam (5.8 ). I got on and totally rocked it! I love crack; it's totally my thing! When I'm climbing sport/face holds, I feel very insecure and awkward. But when climbing cracks, I feel confident and alive, and the fear is converted into passion and a will to overcome the challenge!

We all climbed a little more on the various cracks before heading out to the overlook to take in the views. We left feeling very invigorated.
