Someone yell at me in the comments and remind me to add a triplog for this awesome adventure. Definitely harder than 5.9. Definitely worth the effort.

The Mace Second 5.9TradG5 Pitches400 ft
I like Mt project's description. It's all a bit fuzzy to me, funny how fear can do that to you..
Sure, we did the Cathedral Rock hike, it just happens to be the approach to 'The Mace' an infamous Sedona spire climb. It is a trad route with large metolious rap anchors at the belays. It was rated 5.9+ but that was back in the 1950's when the hardest routes were called 5.9+ because the scale only went to 5.10. It's 400ft, 5 pitch, Grade 3 climb on Sedona sandstone.

What an adventure, I can't even describe it to you! It's a very good thing I am able to show you through the lens of my little pink pack camera. When I reached the very top I began to soak up the amazing view and the feeling of accomplishment. My accomplishment was pushing past my personal fears and realizing how safe I was being on TR, able to follow such an awesome route. Mike should have the bigger feeling of accomplishment; he is the one who took on more risk by leading this route for us. It certainly was a heady climb, most areas you felt very insecure. You didn't have the luxury of hand and foot holds, instead you use several areas of your body as a wedge, to slowly make your way up the pitch; this is quite typical with the off-width style of climbing. The whole experience makes me stop and think... WHY wouldn't everyone do this? It's so much fun! :D
