| partners | | We had a leisurely morning and went for breakfast in town. Then we dropped off a car and drove up to the trailhead. We hiked into the canyon down a crumbling steep slope. Towards the bottom of the slop we were greeted with amazing fall colors!
We each carried a rope and then rotated rigging so we each got experience. It had been a long time since I had to redo anchors on a bolted canyon, so it was a good review for me! The beginning of Mystery was dry, even the lake was dry. When we got to the traverse, I went first and rappelled down. There was a pool I couldn’t avoid, so I went in. Unfortunately I had not been wearing my wetsuit so it was cold! I helped Tim across the pool without him getting wet. We repeated that sequence for everyone. I put on my wetsuit to try to get warm. We noticed that the spring there was feeding the canyon and water was flowing from that point forward. So everyone put on their wetsuit to keep warm. The water continued down into the Narrows. It was fun to be at the top of the last rappel looking down at all the tourists going by! We took care not to knock them out with our rope  !
We hiked with the tourists out through the Narrows. It was really pretty.
When we got on the trail we started to jog in our wetsuits to the buses. The clanking of our gear would alert people were were coming through.
