Nonetheless this old favorite provides a nice couple of miles at this time of year. Just a trickle through the narrows, and insanely tall spring grass on a warm afternoon. Shocked we never heard a rattle, though I can't imagine not having stepped within feet of some unseen desert wildlife! |

It was late so we camped and wandered around a little ( I had a tax man appt earlier). Up and out and followed the drainage to the narrows and to the 30 foot waterfall. We didn't have a rope and I didn't really care to get to the Salt this way. We back tracked, our first route out looked good but bee hive in a crack didn't so down and then to try #2 over a saddle. This proved to be a good choice, we wanted to get into an area off Black Mesa with some springs labeled. We found some dry tanks and no spring surface water we could see. What we did see was millions of Globe Mallow, Brittlebush and a few Sego Lilies, and others. Great views. We came around and over another saddle and dropped back into the drainage very shortly at the car. It was hot but it turned out to be a nice short hike. Promising area, with other things to see and do. |

| no partners | | Scouting this canyon out to see how technical it was. Was hit with a single 30ft rappel and some cool 'narrows' above it. Dropped down the rappel and crossed the Salt River before ascending back up the rope and back up the canyon to my vehicle. |
