••••• Earth Angel Spire Second 5.10aTrad6 Pitches700 ft
Sean and I headed up to Sedona to do a Classic today. We got an early start with a 4:30 a.m. departure from the valley. After a little over an hour approach and one wrong turn by me, we were racking up.

I led the easy 5.7 first pitch and then I let the pros take over. Sean led the second pitch and the stout third pitch. The Chris grabbed the fourth pitch and Sean finished off the final two. The 3rd and 5th pitches of this climb were stout and heady, old school Sedona 5.10. The route was in the shade all day so were generally pretty comfy. The summit was pretty spectacular, but windy. We completed three two rope raps to reach the bottom.

A pretty stunning day overall. I was not sure anything could compete with a Canyon summit until today. I think I at least found a 1a to the Canyon. The hike out got a little old towards the end. I still don’t feel as strong as I want to feel hiking and scrambling with a larger pack, but I am getting there.

Big thanks to Sean for getting us to the top of this one and keeping the summit tradition alive for my dad’s birthday weekend.

Also Sean saw a bird, he wanted me to put the name of it in this triplog, but I can't remember what type of bird he saw now.
