Good to be back in Flagstaff at a place I used to climb frequently. It was a good day climbing with some old friends and new faces. And everyone brought dogs! The dog:people ratio was pretty well balanced. I worked on (flailed on ) some boulder problems that are currently above my skill level.

Priest draw is also a very accessible climbing area so I was able to bring my old greyhound along for this trip. The trails leading to the climbs are completely flat and well groomed while sometimes a few feet of uphill is required to access certain bouldering problems such as this one.

Post climbing we all met up at a dog friendly patio for pizza and beers :)

Day trip w/ James, Robby Rob, and some others. Played around on Triangle Boulder for a little while, then went to Bat Roof for a little more fun.

Well, I can't climb or hike quite the way I'd like at the moment, but I still love to be outdoors! My roommate was going to Priest Draw for some bouldering. I've been wanting to go to the Draw for ages but the cards have just never fallen that way. So, I decided to come up to check it out anyway, and practice taking some action shots. I was told that the approach was basically flat and that there shouldn't be anything to worry about. We hiked slow and took it easy, and ended up meeting other friends who'd decided to go out that day as well.

The Draw is such a beautiful area. On one side is Priest Draw, on the other is Howard Draw, and right down the middle is gorgeous flatland with trees and a small stream meandering through. It's all bouldering in this area, on very overhung limestone roofs. To climb here is to feel like Spiderman! It's very interesting, so I'd be very curious to know how all this neat rock was formed! Anyone? :)

Joey's goal for the day was to send Baby Coffin, which is a route with a hueco in the roof in the shape of, well, a baby's coffin. It's an interesting little route that starts out with both hands and feet in the hollow, then moves across the roof before popping up and topping out. It had rained while we were there, so it took a couple tries before the route was chalked enough to send, but he got it!

Then we moved down to the Bat Roof, which is basically the typical warm-up wall. PRG's youth team was there during their six day camp, and we also met a couple dudes who donated beers to us. I love how friendly the bouldering world is. ;) We made friends and everyone played around on the rocks and gave each other very useful beta. Joey even tried to send the Fin in a very interesting way, basically upside down with his foot hooked above the rock. See the pictures for a visual demonstration. :scared:

After climbing we drove into town and met up with some buddies at the Flagstaff Brewery for some beer and non-burgers. Good food and good beer! Great way to spend a summer Sunday. :) Can't wait until I'm able to go back to this place and play on the rocks myself!
