 | Hangdog | 5.10b | Sport | G | | | | | I have been a little under the weather for the last two weeks, but no amount of discomfort or tiredness was going to keep me inside on a rare day off work. James and I got a late start, but were only planning on hitting up the Pond anyway. I got up to lead Pony Express and was worn out by the first bolt. I opted to continue, since the route is super easy and super fun. Hung out for a moment, then led the rest of the route. James followed suit, and then he put up Cowgirl, which used to be his warm-up ages ago. The wind was getting bitey and the air and rock colder. It was hard to feel the fingertips aside from the sharpness of the volcanic rock we were climbing. Kudos to James for putting that one up at all. I TR'ed it and would like to lead it in the future when I'm not so pooped. Then he put up Leave Your Money On The Dresser, which is a short, pumpy 10b. I attempted the TR but was just exhausted at this point, and the wind was even colder. I did a beautiful hangdog and pulled on James's end of the rope while he took out slack. Then set up an awkward rappel (there's two bolts with chains, connected by one rap ring... why???) and lowered myself. We packed up at this point, as the clouds were getting more ominous over toward Picketpost. It was a good day nonetheless, so hopefully the sun will be out again soon for us to send again! |
