This was another excellent hike and I hope to come back one day and backpack into the lake. We turned around at the falls for just over an 8 mile hike.

The Bass Creek Trail is popular among hikers, backpackers, and anglers. The trailhead had several cars even on a weekday morning, but we still didn’t really see anyone until the last couple miles on the way back. The lower stretches of the trail take you through a lush forest along the banks of the clear and roaring Bass Creek. Eventually, you leave the creek side and meander up hill through some granite slab and conifers. There were some great views up and down Canyon throughout this section. The turn off for the falls is not overly defined and could easily be missed, start looking out for it at four miles. You should get a glimpse and hear the falls before you have to turn off. After snapping some pics of the impressive little falls and standard Bitterroots tumbling cascade, we returned the way we came.
