I was out and about driving the back roads of Maine, a joy all by itself. I came across this short trail while driving back to the vacation cottage at Lake Damariscotta. Why not.

This short and easy hike starts from the trailhead off of Alna Rd. The route starts out across an open field, which had been cut short to form a trail, if you will. This lasts about a quarter mile before turning onto a real trail as the route enters a thick stand of trees.

Not much to look at except a few mushrooms. The trail approaches a nearby river, but I was spending most of my time trying to distance myself from the mosquitoes chasing me so I didn’t linger.

I wanted some exercise, which I got, but I would not go back.
