Hiked up to Burnt Lake with Greg and Addie. Only 1 other car at the trailhead, but we soon passed the other hikers on their way out and had the trail to ourselves. Overcast all day, it rained on us for a bit while we were taking a break at the shore of the lake, but the storm quickly passed. Greg got to fish for the first time in his life, managed to get a couple of bites before finally landing a 12" rainbow trout. There were some patches of snow on the southwest corner of the lake and visible in the peaks above, but it will soon melt out.

Beautiful day. Did a loop to Burnt Lake and Cast Lake. Intended on going even further, but ran out of time and was getting tired.

The drive to the trailhead is really rough- so I wasn't surprised to find I was the only vehicle parked there. Weather was nice, had some issues with mosquitoes, but nothing a little Deet couldn't handle.

Excellent fishing at Burnt Lake- lost a hefty looking 14" brook trout right at the shoreline as I was pulling it out of the water and pulled in a skinny 10" rainbow shortly afterwards. Fish were jumping and I hooked several more than came off before I got them to shore.

Cast Lake was super shallow, at least on the west shore where I did most of my fishing. I stopped on the east bank on my way back and did a couple of casts, but the access wasn't great and I gave up since I was tired. But I did see a couple of fish rising.
