On our second day in South Dakota we went to thee Badlands National Park. Interesting drive through the park with big horn sheep grazing on the side of the road. We stopped at a couple places to photograph the big horn sheep. This is my second time here but this time the park was green from recent rains. We chose to do the Castle Trail and Medicine Root Trails, which make up a loop hike, the longest trail in the park.

The trail is easy to follow with the majority of the people on the trail on the west end along the road at the fossil exhibit or on the east end along the road at the Window and door trails. The central part of the trail was fairly void of hikers. The hike never gets boring because of the different hills and hoodoos' along the way. We arrived at the east end in rain and headed back the way we came taking the Medicine Root Trail for a little variety. The rain stopped a short time after we started heading back. The wet clays made the trail slick and most of it stuck to our boots.
