| no partners | | I was in Dallas for a conference and looking for a place to get out and hike. Not a lot of good options, but the Cedar Ridge Preserve was actually quite nice. I managed to exhaust essentially every trail in the preserve, which consists primarily of a couple of arterial routes with several "loops" that branch off along the way.
Although the preserve is more or less surrounded by the city, the foliage is pretty dense, making it easy to feel you are a little farther removed from civilization. A great place for trail running, as all of the trails were very well constructed/groomed.
At the far end of the preserve is a decent-sized pond with turtles, birds, etc.
Nice place to "escape" the city, without having to go too far. |
