The trail to the lake in in great shape and straightforward. There are some great views down the valley as you near the lake, but the lake is certainly the highlight. I saw a grizzly sow with her cub on the way out, but it was from a pretty safe distance. However, my mind did race a little wondering where she might be along the trail on the way back. There is a backcountry campground on the lake, but only one couple was there when I arrived. In fact, surprisingly there were not very many people on this trail period. I think the majority of the tourists in this area must flock to Grinnell, or Iceberg. The hike back was uneventful, but a little louder. |
