| no partners | | Beautiful day wandering through the core of the Indian Heaven Wilderness. Temps in the 40s, overcast and windy- but no rain and the sun started to break through the clouds at the very end. Only encountered 3 people all day.
Started from East Crater TH just after noon. All of the wilderness was snow free (which is quite surprising for late October), but the lakes/creeks/streams are all beginning to ice over. Did a clockwise loop up the PCT and then over to Deep Lake where the wind was howling. I had planned to head over to Lemei Rock, but ultimately decided it wasn't worth it in the high wind & fog.
Had to access TH the long way through Trout Lake due to road construction between Stevenson/Carson. This ended up making for a nice fall drive through clusters of Larch trees along Carson Guler Rd. |

Larch Trees in color along the drive to the trailhead. Probably another week or so until they are at prime color. No Larch trees seen in the wilderness though |
