Spent an hour or so on a tOuR of Fort Stevens ... it's the only military facility on the US mainland to come under attack in WW2. It's also the end of the Lewis & Clark Trail, where Bill and Meriwether reached the Pacific at the mouth of the mighty Columbia. In retrospect, I could have spent a bit more time exploring the things here. While the weather here can be variable, we were treated to a beautiful day with temps near 70 which might be as perfect as it gets!

We first went to the South Jetty, then to the old Fort Stevens area. There are a few generations of Forts at this location.

Short walk around the most northwestern part of Oregon. The coastline here is not as dramatic as Brookings or Canon Beach, but it's still really interesting to walk along the Columbia River Delta.

There's lots of Lewis and Clark history here (Fort Clatsop), and the WWII fort (Fort Stevens).

We saw a bald eagle that landed right in front of us on the beach.
